Hi all,

there are so many 'all telephony functions" threads, so I decided to post this message into a new one.

I have one N900 with this behaviour and I use it as WiFi device at home. But on each startup there pops this 'well known' message (sometimes also a similar one). And it hinders the boot, so on each startt you need to wait a bit and then click that message to continue the boot.
Annoying!

But the fix is really easy :
Get root, edit /etc/event.d/sscd and comment out the
line with "start on started dbus", like
#start on started dbus
Code:
sed -i s/start on started dbus/# start on started dbus/ /etc/event.d/sscd

Another fix for advanced-interface-switcher users, where ais does not show up in status-menu.

Get root, open file
/usr/lib/hildon-desktop/advifswlib/core/maemo5.py
and on line #59
remove 'GSMInterface' from the call parameters.

Code:
sed -i s/(GSMInterface, /(/ /usr/lib/hildon-desktop/advifswlib/core/maemo5.py

This fixed my N900 with 'all telephony functions disabled' problem of quickly heating up and very fast battery drain too! Thank you!

Does it also free some resources on phones without SIM's? And about how much?

And you are welcome.

I have no idea. Maybe DA5 can say something? Or just disable on your device and check it out?

It will!

Soinds like your modem chip is not fully faulty, but gets reconnected from time to time (maybe for a short period only). And then throws again the message. Just go ahead.

feature request: getting 'operation not permitted due to low memory'(not exact wording) popup similar to the telephony one, this one is even more annoying as it makes my app loose focus (gets minimized) when shown, anyone has any idea how to cull this beast? (can provide the exact wording in a couple of hours if that will help)
