to make your N900 a ftp server
Code:
tcpsvd -vE 0.0.0.0 21 ftpd -w /media/mmc1/
  • with the -w option to ftpd one gives write access as well
unless you are on your home LAN / Wi-Fi, you'll probably want to leave that option out (!)
  • this is an anonymous FTP server thus does NOT require a password
  • executable is in /usr/sbin thus requires root privilege

i use Krusader as an FTP client which gives me directory (tree) sync facility
FreeCommander (in LostDOS world) offers that too & should probably be able to make a FTP connection as well...
