I have been using my n900 in the car a lot recently. I use the FM transmitter and generally just shuffle my whole collection.

I thought it would be great to have a desktop widget that turns on the FM transmitter, boosts the signal such as: http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...2-2fremantle1/

but also turns the media player on and plays/shuffles all songs....now that would be cool.

At the moment I have to go into media player, click shuffle all songs, then activate the fm transmitter.

Would be highly convenient to combine in one click ;-) But I'm no developer so I'll throw it out there for someone to hopefully agree.

There is a desktop widget which will enable FM Trasmitter and boost it for you. (Simple FMTX desktop Widget) I have put it right next to my media player widget. So all I do is press the widget to enable/boost FM then just press play on the media player widget which is right next to it. (Well, it doesn't shuffle the songs however. But I have my playlist setup so my media player widget just plays songs in my last-played playlist)

But I do know what you mean and it would be cool to have a 1-red button to do all you said. =)
I guess as community grows, we can expect more of those small widgets/apps like the iphone.

I think if you go into MP, select Shuffle All Songs and then exit out to the desktop, the Media Player Widget will remember shuffle-all mode as your preference and continue to use it when you press the play/pause button.

That seems to be the case on mine at least.. I just tap play and then the FMTX widget and it's all set (and the new version of FMTX that incorporates boost is a massive win)

Recent version of Simple FMTX Widget does boost signal automatically when you turn transmitter on.
