http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maemo

n900

On May 25 2010, Nokia announced that future development for Maemo on the n900 would cease, although support for the n900 continues with release 1.2 of Maemo 5, and there are no official plans to port future developments of MeeGo or Harmattan for upstream Nokia devices to the n900, so the future of the n900 is unknown as of May 2010.[73] The developer community that has built up around the n900 has talked about working on community releases and support, in a similar way to what is found with Linux variants generally. Whilst this may be a workable solution for applications, which is open source, much of the software that interfaces with Nokia hardware is proprietary and closed source and relies on Nokia support in a way that would allow integration with unofficial developments.

This i found about 15 minutes ago.

No editing at all please check.
For me at least this is very worrying indeed.
I just hope this forum does indeed reverse Nokia decisions regarding this.

There was a huge thread on this forum saying that Nokia weren't gonna be officially supporting Meego on the N900, leaving the community to do it. I think that decision is ********, but there we have it. :\

Yes but this article i never seen and with the info i recieved today which i will not repeat it is very worrying and i just feel that something can be done from this community to get Nokia to re-start support for us N900 owners.
Hey this is a legitimate concern so please don.t knock me for it but if more know the truths coming out then just maybe it will move developers to make good where Nokia fail us.

I think that quote has a pretty negative spin and should be rewritten by a Nokia syncophant. It's too true.

Yeah, the guy (?) that wrote that also wrote this about himself (?):

My girlfriend describes me as a "cyberpath" - an online psychopath.

It looks like that item was added 2 days ago by: http://talk.maemo.org/member.php?u=40295 (see history).

I think it's mis-phrased.
