Thanks to ceroberts75 over at http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopi...er=asc&start=0

The email app is now running at super speeds! I was able to download a file and I couldn't be happier! There is no more long wait times to check mail, this fixes everything....and, very zippy! And it was very easy...just download file, then open x- terminal; then as root, cd MyDocs (where file download is), then type this:

tar xzf modest-3.4.2-baxyp-1.tar.gz -C /

Then reboot so changes will take affect, and BAMM! An email client the way it's supposed to be!!

... I just thought I would share

"here. try this. worked awesome for me.

i got it from the other maemo site.

use this code to install it.

tar xzf modest-3.4.2-baxyp-1.tar.gz -C /

modest-3.4.2-baxyp-1.tar.gz
Description:

Download
Filename: modest-3.4.2-baxyp-1.tar.gz
Filesize: 401.93 KB
Downloaded: 9 Time(s)"

I was a little skeptical on this but after digging around and gaining some confidence i went ahead and used it. So far pop3 and gmail seem to be snappier. Need to try it out a bit more though. I may unistall it as I'm not sure i'm comfortable with the changes.

Yeah I was skeptical at first, since I literally know nothing of what I did, I'm still a complete noob, but went for it on a leap of faith. I was just tired of the email running sooooo slow... regardless, everything is perfecttly fast!!
So far I haven't been let down from the Maemo Community!

i think it only loads about 20 at a time, i keep neglecting inbox maintenance and deleting 18 out of the 20 results in any unread older texts arriving as new ones, quite a pain!
