Dunno... Used iTunes to make them from cd, Apple lossless... I just checked, and they really do play, arbitrary picks. For a short while you may download a file so you can check. I will remove it in a couple of days.

No problems with N9? I checked compatibility before buying, then it didn't work, I complained with Nokia, and they changed the compatibility statement on their website to "solve" the problem.

Are you sure that is Apple lossless? It's a plain MPEG4 AAC-LC file according to my 'file' command. Apple uses .m4a for both lossless and lossy files as both are encassed in the MPEG4 container but use different codecs.

I must admit that I've never tested alac before but I can confirm that it does work in Sailfish.
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...8&postcount=41

I tested file from here:
http://www.bakeraudio.org/sample-audio-recordings.html

And gstreamer plays it as audio/x-alac so it does work ok in Sailfish.

Well, those m4a files work in my phone ...

I also checked the m4a files ( from iTunes):

General
Format MPEG-4
Codec ID M4A
...
Audio
Format AAC
Format profile LC
Compression mode Lossy
...

It seems that mediainfo -command line app is not part of Mer?

My app Panucci plays everything that the gstreamer backend does but it's more suited for audiobooks so yeah, someone should write a kickass music player for Sailfish, that is not limited by license/patent issues.

Bummer... It was intended as lossless. Last year I started to put cds into flac. Some more to be done then.
