I believe that you should be able to decode the mpeg2 stream using DSP if you take a look at this

strangely enough the picostick seemed to work once, and now seems to crash and reboot the N900.

Also the Nanostick seems to work fine without external power (something I didn't expect)

I'll post much more info later this week.

Could you please post yout compiled modules? I'm trying to get my USB DVB Stick Pinnacle 70e to work :P thank you very much..

I'm planning to post a how-to. but I would like to update it for kernel-power v48. It is supposed to have some updated DSP bridges, so maybe performance is better when using the default media player to decode the streams.

Also I'm pretty sure the 70e uses a different chip than the 73e, so you need a different module.
I think 70e uses a eMPIA chip, 73e uses dib0700

thanks!
I will try the mplayer command on the N900.
If they can get 25 fps using a nexus one with the ZDF stream in germany, that is very good performance!

I'm not a mplayer guru, so hopefully this impoves performance on n900

A small demonstration of watching TV on a Nokia N900.

I use a PCTV nanoStick 73e and watch Dutch television ("Nederland 1" and "Nederland 2")

I compiled my own DVB and DiBcom modules for the kernel-power v48 using a later version of v4l, since I could not get the device working with the code in the power kernel.

I will post a more detailed how-to in the future
