I am on Ubuntu 13.10.
I connect my N950 to the PC with usb cable.
And after ?
Last step:
tar --numeric-owner -xvjf itviewer-sailfish-1.0.1.12.tar.bz2 -C /media/Alt_OS/
can you give me the steps btw plz?

Easier way to upgrade: Just change the line in your ssu.ini file to read
release=1.0.1.12
then as coderus wrote:
ssu ur
zypper ref
zypper in sailfish-version ssu

The best thing I did was update the ssu.ini to that one from csdozi.
If you want a working store, with easily-updatable version numbers, install R3 and put in that ssu.ini ... Now of course with the new version number.
