I get the impression craftyguy means a simple list of candidates.

So far:

Me
Andrea Grandi
Andrew Black

nominated with no acceptance yet:

Stephen Gadsby
Attila Csipa

plus some who were nominated and turned it down

I'm just cross posting nominations when the candidates don't do it themselves.

Is the mailing list the only place for nominations?

Also... A question for members of the current council:

During your term, what specifics can be pointed to that will show what the Council has accomplished in past had there not been a council. (To give interested parties an idea about the challenges.)

BTW: If nominations are accepted from the forum, I would nominate RevdKathy who has shown by example, and in a relatively short period of time, the way a new user can first use this community to acquire knowledge about the device then share this acquired knowledge and experience to all as a productive member of this community.

If nominations are not accepted from a forum post, please explain to a "bear of a little brain" a step by step procedure to do so. Please also realize that some, myself included, have never been a member of the mailing list.

I guess you are mistaken, at least he didn't declared anything in his thread, last message there is: http://lists.maemo.org/pipermail/mae...ch/003995.html

EDIT: Also see second message here: http://n2.nabble.com/Encouragement-t....html#a4721995

I wish I had more time. Efforts like this council are worthwhile.

I'm going to presume and go ahead and answer this one the same way I always do. The Maemo Community Council is less about highly visible activity then it is about facilitation and low-key leadership to the community. To see signs of success one only has to see the continued improvement in the community. At the end of the day, looking towards high-profile accomplishments isn't really the goal.

Of course any current members are more than welcome to disagree with me.

Seconded (although seconds aren't required ). It was a pleasure getting to brainstorm the weekend away with her in BCN. I can see few better community-oriented people in maemo.org and her "reality-balanced" perspective would be an invaluable asset to any future council.

I thought of RevdKathy for council way back. In fact I have been telling her for some time she was being groomed. Unfortunately she told me she will not stand this time due to other commitments, but she will be happy to do so next time.

It seems to me that given GA's great summary of the purpose of belonging to the council, there isn't one.

People like Texrat, for example, have always provided facilitation and leadership, and I assume that RevdKathy will continue providing the leadership she always has -- for free! The same goes for others, so I don't see the purpose for this.

But don't mind me, I just won't vote, now that this has been clarified.
