you just won this thread Dave, can one use the crank to dial phone numbers? (forget disc phone, crank dialing is the new cool thing)

edit: Marc tomorrow: announcing the CrankOH, haptic feedback when turning, unlike any other discphone...

And yeah, people really need to stop with making up the Nokia and Jolla connections here. Why would you even want Jolla to be connected with Nokia?
Nokia is sitting on a few billions $, they can keep doing what they are doing, or investing preparing for 2016 comeback. Who needs investors if you got Nokia interested in what you're doing, just prohibited to directly support your product for the next 13 months? Would maybe something like investment through R&D be not in their MS 'deal'?

There is no overlap between the companies.

Foxconn make the HW.
Jolla make the OS.

Right now, all Nokia have is a brand, and Jolla will not get into bed with them just for that.

But if Foxconn makes the HW, then why isn't the tablet called Foxconn N1??? You're missing my point, dude.

Is http://jolla.com/toh/ by any means related to the countdown or has it been there before?
Not much more information to guess from that site, though.

OK, rather not, since its content was uploaded in May

its causr Nokia is licensing out their brand, whats better to an average dude. A Nokia tablet or a foxconn. Nokia had the brand recognition. I doubt theyll do much of the dev work, they'll just make sure it runs at a satisfactorily level so the brand quality isnt damaged

Possibly to MS? I have not heard anything official about it. Some heavily Lumia linked patents switched hands to MS. Described being design patents. What we do know is that Tampere team, that has been behind all the major camera innovation on Nokia since N93 moved to MS. PureView was all result of the Tampere team.

As for N1. Industrial design was on Nokia and hardware was designed in partnership with Foxconn. Nokia has no sales channels anymore on consumer devices, so that's all on Foxconn. Why N1 is coming to China first and Europe who knows when.

Jolla already did its last device in a partnership with two Finnish companies. Nokia could indeed invest to a device and offer some design help, but I think robust sales channels are critical for Jolla. Something Nokia can't offer.

Pretty sure that went to Microsoft Mobile as part of the handover of Nokia D&S's.
