Hey guys, feel free to move this thread if it isn't in the proper place. Having that said, I was looking around this forum and google for n900 portrait mode getting some results about it.

Mainly pressing 3 keys, CTRL+shift+O should allow us to use the browser in portrait mode, witch isn't happening for me. I tried the other variation, pressing CTRL+shift+FN+L and it switched to portrait, but with major visual glitches.

Is portrait mode still integrated or was it removed? Any help is appreciated.

The proper combination since PR1.2 is Ctrl+Shift+R. And it works with everything, not just Browser. (Some things aren't built to work in portrait, so half their buttons go off screen or something like that, but mostly it works fine everywhere, if not always being the best aesthetically.)

Thanks! It works just great, but do I need to press the key combinations anytime I want to set it to portrait mode or will it remember that the next time around?

not really. I believe if you just hide the apps window, the next time it will open as the last orientation. but if you close the process, you have to press the combination next time you run it
for easy access for Ctrl+Shift+R, install Shortcutd and make the camera key as a shortcut

That was helpful, thank you guys. Installed Shortcutd and its neat, lets hope for some kind of app that'll enable portrait without having to press a key!

Thanks again.

Hasn't the browser been portrait enabled since Pr1.2?

Yes.
  1. Launch Maemo browser.
  2. Move beyond the bookmarks to an actual web page.
  3. Open the web browser's application menu.
  4. Tap "Options" button.
  5. Tap "Settings" button.
  6. Check "Enable rotation".
  7. Tap the "Save" button.
