spam- (S) stupid (P)pointless (A)annoying (M) message .
This sounds like a good idea.
Another idea: exponentially increasing time required beyween thread creation time for any given user.

The spammers seems to be getting smarter on this, they spam when most of the moderators are asleep (most moderators if I'm not mistaken resides in US) so they are spamming pretty much now.

I'm starting to seriously think more moderators based on different timezones would really be ideal as a short term strategy. The spammers aren't going to play dumb forever.

Texrat (or any other moderators that are awake): Can you guys please clean out the remaining spam threads in page 2 under that games section? I just noticed that has been sitting there for quite sometime. TIA.

Again: best thing to do is use Report This when you see them. That way I can go directly to the threads and clean them out quickly.

Anyway, more handled.

It might be worth reduceing the timeout between reporting posts as a new wave seems to have begun.

Look, it's obvious that we're fighting a losing battle (attack is automated, cleaning up is manual), and besides I'm sure that you moderators have much better things to do with your time. Just ask Reggie to quarantine new unverified users already.
