However, if this works for you without issues, then it is ok.
Hi, I can't get past the startup logo with your files on Nexus5, I've installed Cm12.1 and Sailfish 3.3 and 3.4 but none of them start.
Do you have to install something else? I am doing something wrong?.

No, only these two zip files (the android base cm12.1 and sfos) should be flashed in twrp.
Did you flash the cm12.1 then immediately (without reboot) the sfos?
Are you using multirom configuration?

I am flashing it on a single system.
But the issue is that I can't find the official cm12.1 since the cm website doesn't work and I downloaded an unoffcial version.
Could you post the cm you use?

I think we all use the unofficial cm12.1.
The download link is available in the first post of the "SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview" topic.
At the "SFOS Installation:" section: cm-12.1-20160704-UNOFFICIAL-hammerhead-nocheck.zip (CM12.1).

Have you tried to flash the CM13 and SFOS from this topic?

I am a bit confused as this is the CM13 base topic but both you and @iKevinES are talking about CM12.1 base.

Please do not mix the SFOS zip from this topic with the CM12.1 android base because that will not work.

If you'd like to install CM12.1 you need to flash one of the SFOS versions from here

OR

If you'd like to install the SFOS from this topic (instruction at the first post) you need to use the android base CM13 from there too.

Hi All,

Sailfish OS 4 is about to be released soon (EA is out already).
Are there plans to make it available on Nexus 5?

Regards,
Tice

This blue nexus/sailfish splash screen is the best thing ever! Really beautiful, works well, thank you for the work. Feels completely different to the original g logo. Although development seems to be stopped, version 3.4.0.24 still works (as mentioned in post #658). Not sure if it was the latest working version with CM13 base but looks like that.
