I just did the same test again, but this time I put the stylus under the left side of the phone while it was standing in "landscape" mode (I should have said landscape in my previous post, not portrait) and the red readout was smack on zero.

A bunch of tests here are "compared to $DEVICE" or "known level surface", but you know a bubble level is self-checking, and you can use the same trick to check your accelerometer...
All you need is a flat surface at any angle -- lay your level on it, note the reading, rotate the level 180. It should read the same, but opposite direction.
