It seems N9 is now the new iOS/Android and need to be jailbroken/rooted/hacked to gain extra previleges. Until someone does it, our dreams of the N9 being the next N900 is just a dream it seems. (obviously, this only impacts the real geeks in this thread using the N9 like myself)

Basically, N9 is much more closed than we ever thought it would be:

I agree. It is very sad that we will need to choose (even if dual boot) between the Meego CE for hackability and Harmattan for quality (but closed source and DRMed) components...

RM680 is actually N950, but that doesn't affect the point at all.

Oops. RM-696 is also in that mce ini and it's the same as N950.

What is this "rooting" of which you talk?

Do you mean changing the euid to 0?

Put it in developer mode, there's a command avaialble.

Do you mean disabling Aegis? You'll have to install a custom kernel.

What does Aegis do? See http://wiki.meego.com/User:Javispedr...ecurity_policy

How is battery life on yours? Or rather, the battery usage stats? In the battery usage app (from Ovi Store) it shows me, that MeeGo System is using about 40% of the resources, which worries me somehow....

of course you can log in as root with xterm, but that doesn't stop the aegis at all.
