Here's a good place to start... although you have started this thread from the N810 forum, there may not be Becomeroot for the 810 as yet... but go here as a start:

That link for becomeroot doesn't work anymore. Where can one grab becomeroot now?

You know... that wiki doesn't answer the question about becomeroot...

I just had to re-flash after a botched uninstall of flipclock and want to easily become root to use emelfm2 to reconfigure my N800.

Why are all the debs removed for this program? Why do I have to learn a new method? Why, when this tablet finally becomes useful to me, does it become a PITA to use?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Rootsh is becomeroot's equal & superior.

Of course it does, but you have to look beyond being angry and frustrated. rootsh does exactly what you want. It's in Extras, it's easy to install, and the maintainer is easy to find and harass. What more could you possibly want?

Because the maintainer didn't see fit to distribute it through Extras. Thankfully, qwerty12 stepped up and put together his own package, now we'll never again have to suffer through finding it.

You don't, rootsh is exactly equivalent to becomeroot in all areas that matter. Its only difference is that it has a few extra nice features.

Perhaps because you're setting up imaginary roadblocks for yourself?
