I've got a great idea for running newspapers exactly like ITT is run.

Newspapers are a big waste of time because they change subjects too often.

What they should is start a number of threads on the front page, like, War, Murder, Money, People.

Then when the war in Iraq comes along, you just put the article about it at the end, after the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI, WWII, War in Vietnam, etc. This would be a great savings, because newspapers would have the same headlines every day. "War is getting worse" "Murder in the city" "It's difficult to make money" etc.

Then we would have people who patrol the newspapers and make it unbearable for anyone who thinks they have a new story. There are no new stories!! Just old threads.

I can't figure out if the motto of these newspapers would be "nothing new under the Sun" or "no news is good news".

Hyperbole is neither appreciated nor helpful.

geneven, the current ITT newpaper is the same exact stories repeated over and over every day. Is that really more interesting than a few new stores plus a set of stories that make progress from day to day?

Nice try, but no.

Blame geneven, we're not the ones that started the new thread.

Maybe you guys (Antilles, Technut) should ask Reggies about moderator-ship? It'd really help out to clear out silly threads... (Like this one)

Not sure moderators are the answer.

Besides, moderators need to be more "moderate" than me.

Yeah, agreed. A more self-regulating method like minimum-post requirements would be a better plan. I don't have the desire nor the attitude to be a moderator.

This is off-topic land, so I think I'm safe against criticism about silly threads such as that levied by Aisu above, unless someone thinks that only Ron Paul for President threads are fit for inclusion here. Most forums have a place where any topic is fair game, and moderators almost never intervene to get rid of topics there.
