Does such a thing exist somewhere? Just a little desktop applet that shows/rotates a photo from a given directory.

If not, it might be a nice little applet to make up for someone who can actually code such things.

like vista's one? why not...but these kind of applets eats up alot of cpu and battery :/

Nah screw Vista, I'd be curios if superkaramba from KDE (python based) could be ported.

A screensaver on a battery-powered device is not necessarily the wisest plan...

If you are talking about changing the background image using some automated means, this has been discussed before. It seems as though this is not currently possible (other than by using a very hackish method of setting the image in 'home-background.conf' and SIGHUP-ing the 'hildon-desktop' process, which is really not something you want to do often.)

You can vote for this bug to try to get the feature into the next release.

Yea, I was thinking kind of like the Vista One. As to CPU/Battery there are already plenty of applets that do that now..
