Well it doesn't really matter. The command to use to fix the sound system when Garnet VM whacks it out is:
dsp_dld
That does the trick for me (not the kill command that gave you an error).

Garnet still sucks. It STILL does not run the apps I use on my regular palm like Trip Deluxe and just crashes when I try to run it.

So, i'm still stuck carrying my N800 as well as my Palm device.

Stupid Nokia for not including a working PIM with the N800/N810.

Yes I know it is an "Internet Tablet" but they could have made it so much more by adding a PIM and Office functionality to it. But, at least adding a PIM to it.

A simple PIM shouldn't take THAT much memory. I mean look at the Palm devices like the Palm 3 or V. It was a PIM that ran well AND only 2/4MB of memory for apps. The later models had 8MB memory and ran even better and with a color display.

Anyways, Garnet still sucks. I still have yet to find any of the handful of apps/games which I use all the time on my palm that will run without crashing on Garnet.

thing is that just about every nokia phone comes with pim functionality. same with other phone brands (dont know about the ones that are sold with operator firmwares tho as i stay well away from those). so for nokia to put pim in both their tablet and their phone (they are more or less designed to be companion devices) would be a waste of resources in their opinion.

and there are pim software available from third party, and quite easy to install to imo.

The problem is that none of them come even close to being useful - let alone as useful at the PIM functions on the Palm.

IMHO, the main problem with using GVM for calendar and todo apps is a lack of functioning reliable alarms.

In my opinion, the least they should do is port these simple apps over to the tablets. To me, NOT doing so is a waste of resources.

What they COULD do is have an improved one on the tablet that could sync over bluetooth to the phone so they are actually "companion" devices and not just "estranged cousin" devices. I would much more enjoy being able to enter events on the tablet, and I like having the option of a silent alarm on the phone. Right now they don't work together at all - I don't see any advantage to getting a Nokia phone over a competitor's offering, as far as synergy is concerned. I do like my 6275i though, I wish it melded better with the n800.

They're getting there but they're really basic, man. Wouldn't it be cool to beam an event via bluetooth to your phone or someone else? How long has Palm had that feature? How about integrating to-do items into the calendar - or putting alarms on those tasks with deadlines?

For more advanced features, I'd absolutely love icons for appointments and subtasks. And big finger-size checkboxes.

We have some catching up to do to get to the basic Palm level. We have the hardware potential to blow way past but I think we need serious buy-in from Nokia to approach that.
