So the beta was released a little bit ago. Just to let everyone know, the beta is not completely stable(obviously). It has crashed a couple times but during most operations, it has been fine.

Cool Features: Control panel -> task navigator
This lets you move around the list for the menu accessable from the third button on the left. As we all know, this was absolutely needed.

Virtual memory: allocates memory just like the addon does.

Included themes: don't worry, there are a few ones that aren't bright yellow/orange

You can now change the layout of the Home screen under the home options. Very cool.


Judging by this beta release, 2006 OS seems to be heading for a very polished and easy to use public release.

Unfortunately, the OS-provided swap uses a file rather than a partition (for a whole load of understandable technical reasons). This means inserting the USB cable will deactivate the swap.

So I'll probably stick with using a partition. Nice to see it'll be there for regular users, however.
