Claws (just installed yesterday) is a very nice email client, well configurable, but thought mainly for desktop/laptop enviroments. It needs therefore a few changes on settings to make it fully usable on TabletPC.

Here there are my first tries:

1) fonts: set to 20 both Folder and Message fonts.

2) icons: downloaded a Claws theme (A Duck's Claw), resized to double all the icons, and sharpened them to 200. Used mogrify for it:

mogrify -geometry 200% *.png
mogrify -sharpen 200 *.png

Then I imported the theme on Claws.

Now I have "touchable" icons and clear fonts.
Other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, Umberto

I've been trying to find time to complete a "finger-friendly" theme for Claws. Unfortunately, time has been tight. Good suggestions.

sure!

(it's the Blaue_Kalue theme)

Of course that's a first try and a better result may be possible with a fine tuning of mogrify params.

I managed to adjust my fonts, thanks!
In another thread someone mentioned that they had replaced icons with just text, for 'send' and the like. How do you do that? I admit that the claws-mail UI is so counter-intuitive to me that I can't even figure out the Preferences menu. But if I could, perhaps I could actually start using claws-mail again.

You can do it trough:
View->Show or Hide->Toolbar->Text Only

but the textual icon's font doesn't seems to be affected by font preferences, and in my opinion are still too small.

Thanks a lot, that will be a big help. As usual with claws-mail it never occurs to me to look for features where they actually turn out to be placed.. I don't know what it is, but with claws-mail nothing works as I think. Anyway, off I go with another try at claws-mail, now without those (to me) confusing icons!

Another thing: use the trayicon plugin.
Goto (hopfully translated correctly, running german UI here) <File> <Configuration>, click "Load" and selece trayicon.so.
Then <File> <Configuration> <Setting>. There you will find a new topic Plugins. Select TrayIcon and mark all checkboxes.

Now claws'll start minimized and will close itself to the statusbar.
If you wanna quit the program do it via <File><Exit>.

I still have some UI issues when using the Trayicon plugin -- seems to screw the main Claws UI up until restart. I submitted the bug a while back, but the status was changed to FIXED. I'll have to take some screenshots and update the bug report.
