I really want to use the camera on the N810 to take pictures. I know it's only VGA, but is there some way to take pictures with one of the hardware buttons, preferably one on the top? That would make it so much easier to turn the tablet around, hit the button, and hope I got the subject in the frame. It obviously wouldn't make a good day to day camera, but it would be "good enough" for those situations when I wish I had a camera.

Thanks

It's certainly possible, you just need to take something like the camera example app and alter the source.

Liqbase lets you take pictures with the fullscreen key.

Although, much like Apple's iSight, it takes a mirror image rather than a true pic (i.e., if you take a photo of text, you'll have to flip it horizontally later).

Speaking of which... I've been meaning to bug Gary about this.

theres a wiki page for things like that http://wiki.maemo.org/Liqbase

I've been a bit off-piste with liqbase recently trying to find a new home for the classes, but ended up coming back to the trunk version due to performance deficiencies or extreme refactoring required in pretty much everything I looked at.

Thanks for the help. I tried Liqbase, but it seems a little too "heavy" for my needs. Then I opened up the source code of GPSCamera, but realized that I'm not as good of a programmer as I thought. I ended up going with Knips. I can take a picture with the button in the middle of the D-Pad using that. It isn't exactly convenient, but it is a lot better than pressing a button on the screen.
