Well I have progressed to the point of uploading my app to the extras repository. At least that is where I thought it would end up. According to the email I sent, it ended up in extras-devel.

So, how do I create a .install file so I can test it in extras-devel?

How do I move it from extras-devel?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Here is the email that I received confirming my build:

[2009-04-29 22:45:01] Processing package ztodo 0.6.4.1-2. Uploader: dwaynez, builder: builder1
[2009-04-29 22:45:04] Building ztodo 0.6.4.1-2 for target 'maemo-diablo-i386-extras-devel'
[2009-04-29 22:46:01] OK
[2009-04-29 22:46:02] Signing build results
[2009-04-29 22:46:02] ztodo 0.6.4.1-2 has been queued for loading into diablo extras-devel repository
[2009-04-29 22:46:02] You can find more info about this build here: https://garage.maemo.org/builder/dia...odo_0.6.4.1-2/

Packages going into Extras go through 4 steps:

  1. A source package is uploaded to the autobuilder where it's built.
  2. If the build is successful, then the resulting package is moved into Extras-devel.
  3. The package then goes through a period of smoke testing in which the developer ensures that it installs, uninstalls and generally works correctly.
  4. Once the package is confirmed to be working properly, then the maintainer promotes it to Extras proper, a Downloads entry is created, and a .install is created on the repository.

You're on step 3. Once you confirm that the package is good, then you can promote it and you'll get your .install. You can promote through the web interface.

Thanks for your quick answer!

So how do I go about testing it? Where is it and how do I go about creating a .install file to test it from extras-devel?

When I go to the promote web page off of the link you sent, I don't see my application. Shouldn't it be there ready to promote?

You don't need a .install to install. Simply refresh the Application Manager once your package is moved to Extras-devel and it can be installed from there.

It takes a little while for the queued successful builds to be moved into the repository. Wait on it a bit and it should show up.

It should take only 1 hour max to see your package in the list. There seems to be some problems updating the repositories, because other packages are missing too

It seems to be in extras-devel; it installed fine.

Brent - Where do you see it? I have extras-devel in application manager and it is not showing up. Do I have the repository not setup properly? I have http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/ and components of "free non-free". Distribution is blank.

Interestingly, it did get identified when I checked for updates. It also finally showed up on the promotions page.

What section is your package in? Does it start 'user/'? (And, preferably, is it one of the recommended categories?)

I expected it to be in user/office.

I have now promoted it to extras (and I can see it in http://repository.maemo.org/extras/p.../free/z/ztodo/). It does not show up in the application manager. Is there something more I should do? Do I need to wait some more time?

Also, I thought that when it gets promoted to extras, a .install file was created. I don't see it in http://repository.maemo.org/extras/d...iablo/install/
Am I looking in the right place?
