If you think there is too much orange in the maemo.org layout, this is what you can do:

READ
Read this bug report containing a proposal to diminish the amount of orange.

TALK
If you have anything useful to add, do it in that bug report or here.

FIX, REALLY
  1. Get Firefox.
  2. Get FireBug.
  3. Get the maemo.org CSS files.
  4. Improve those files testing them with FireBug.
  5. Take screenshots, upload your CSS and publish them here.
  6. Get feedback and back to step 4 and when enough people is happy
  7. Submit the new files in the bug report

Then the maemo.org webmaster will look at it, make a diff (you could help here if you know how) and commit the change. His nick is X-Fade and you can usually find him in #maemo, if you need him.

I also love the orange, it matches the "maemo.org" icon.

Seems to me the better bug to support would be.

https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4467

They are asking to basically do the same thing. Alter the colors. You don't like the orange, just hit the drop down box and select the color scheme you want. If a little effort to put this is place were to happen, I think we could have lots of choices and lots of happy users.

Please vote for bug 4467, if you have a bugzilla account, if not you can make one by clicking on the above link and celecting "create account" from the top right hand side.

Funny how this works, eh?

I've committed a few orange-to-nearblack commits for link titles already. Hopefully, the site will update soon.

Why should orange and black be confined to Halloween?

They deserve year-round exposure.

I figured the new maemo.org color scheme was to hassle Nokia for knifing the N810 WiMAX Edition, default theme: Glasser.

Thanks for the Firebug tip! For my own reading pleasure, I have "turned down" the orange. I simply replaced all of the #EE6100 entries in talk.css with #AA3300. Now the orange is more of a burnt umber (OK, brown), but it is easier to read.

EDIT: Ah, it doesn't stick with Firebug, I need Stylish to do that.
