I do not know if anybody has mentioned this, but I thought that this was a good idea for an application.

I suppose it cannot be ported to the N900 that effectively, without the digital compass.

i'll stick with the built in hud that comes with the car(bmw/saab)

"Head Up Display" is definitely a cool idea for apps (probably not too difficult to add a "Head Up" option that flips/rotates the view, either). Even if an app like this isn't created for Maemo, the UI idea should be used somewhere.

The GPS devices that are designed for heads-up displays come with a sticker that you put on your windscreen soyou can see it during the day http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/16/h...ds-up-display/

I've been doing this already....

(Sad truth is that usually do that while waiting for N810's GPS to lock).

Neat idea, though why does it need a digital compass? Seems more like an application of GPS to me..
