i know that N900 does support the .avi extension, and I even tried testing it; downloaded from www.stagevu.com and transfered to my N900 and it worked flawlessly. but if you go to the site from the device and try to play the video it doesnot work becuase it doesnot have a divx webplayer. when you click the play button from the middle of the page it opens the integrated player from the device. and it gives an error sayingthe format is not supported. this is kind of confusing becuase that should be the same format .avi. which this device supports. or am i missing something.

It's a streaming site. N900 does not support Divx Web Player.

I understand that it would not be able to play it in the web-browser but it doesnot support it on the native player built into the phone which supports .avi.

Isn't there a download button, can't you use that?

If someone ported mozilla-mplayer it might even work straight on the page.

Has anyone found a way around it?The web is flooded with divx files these days and I reckon it is as important as the flash player. It just cancels out the"full web "capability of the phone.
Someone please write a script to support streaming.
Thanks
