Can anyone enlighten me as to what the black, rectangular "Google +" icon is on some of the screen shot postings I have seen? Being a subscriber to just about everything Google, it has piqued my interest...

you should have posted a link to the screenshot, would be easier than just to guess... but i think its just a browserbookmark

its a search widget what searches many engines you can change it to ebay, google maps, dictionary etc. by hitting + icon

i got it from extras in the app manager, go to here with your n900 browser and get http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/touchsearch/

When i use it i am directed to google mobile South America somewhere, very frustrating. If anyone knows how i can change it to UK it would be much appreciated.

I did start a thread on it but got nowhere.

I have downloaded it - it is in the app manager and no longer appears in the downloadable apps - but I cannot find it. I cannot add it as a widget or a short cut. Do I need a rebbot?

yes it never showed up for me when i installed it just randomly popped up a hour later so reboot might help.

I had the same problem and reboot solved it. The widget appeared to one of my desktops after rebooting and I was able to move it to the place I wanted.
