I want to install Qt4.6 beta to my N900 (for testing purpose). I am not certain whether if this is doable or not. Can any familiar with this area confirm it?

I followed the instruction here on my N900:
http://wiki.maemo.org/Qt4_Hildon#Usi...s_in_Fremantle

but Qt did not get installed.

Thanks in advance.

Isn't ' fakeroot ' used only in scratchbox ?
If you've installed rootsh, use ' sudo gainroot ' instead.

Ah, ... and if you bricked your device, don't mention my nick.

Here's what I did

1. enable the extras-devel repository in app manager
2. use sudo gainroot to get root access (you need to install the rootsh package for this to work)
3. then "apt-get install libqt4-maemo5-modulename" where module name is the module you want to install (gui, network, sql etc. - but actually installing one might pull the others because of dependencies)

Thanks for the quick responses. I manage to solve the problem by running "apt-get install libqt4-maemo5-module".

The packages you installed are Qt 4.6 run time libraries not applications.

By installing Qt 4.6 libraries you don't get any changes to your system, just a possibility to run applications which are developed using Qt 4.6.
