Hey guys,
I am looking for an external BatteryCharger for my n900. Since my USB port broke and Nokia is currently dealing with it I want to use the time and order a cheap and working external charger in which I can charge the BL-5J Batteries.

All help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Hauser

I bought the following one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_2774wt_939

- Multiple voltage input AC 110-240V 50/60Hz 0.15A
- Multiple voltage output DC 4.2V 350mA ¡ª ¡À50mA USB 5.2Vd.c. 800mA
- Compatibility:Nokia BL-5J Battery
The output states 4.2V and 350mA but the battery BL-5J has 3.7V and 1320mAh, will it still work? Whats mA to mAh? Can someone clarify?

You're mixing up your measurements - mA is the instantaneous current, whereas mAh is a measure of how much current for how long. You need to compare the output of the charger to the output from the wall charger/USB. USB is 5V @500mA - I don't have the wall charger around to check, but I think that's about 5V @1800mA. Anyway, that charger should work fine.

I use the U2O i-UP 6400mAh. It's nice, maybe too big for someone, but for my usabe is ok. At the moment I have problems with the N900 USB port, but previously worked fine. The output is a USB port, so you can also charge your MP3 player. Here is the page. Price: 45-55 EUR.

Hey guys, I'd like to thank all of you for your input! My ordered charger has been shipped today, Ill have it in a month or so When I have it I'll report back here.

I believe having a wall charger is a great alternative to using the USB Charger Cable which inevitably puts strain on the USB Mini Port which - in my case - has already come out (my n900 is at Nokia atm). If you don't have a problem with opening the backcover frequently to take out your battery for a charge then you should look at getting an external charger. Using the USB Mini Port of your device only for data transfer will lessen your chances of it breaking and Nokia refusing to repair it!

Hey guys, I have a question:

Bought this charger, it's sitting in front of me right now (review to come soon), but now I'm wondering what USB cable I need to charge it (unfortunately they only delivered it with US-Style plug).

I take it I need a USB Male A to Male A cable, is that correct? I would plug one end in my PC and the other in the charger, right? In terms of Charging time, does the USB give less mAh than a socket? Would you suggest even going down the USB road or should I just get a US>EU adaptor? If that charges it quicker&puts less strain on my PC I will just do that. What do you guys think?

USB Male A to Male A cable

Thanks in advance!

Depends on whether that USB port is an input or an output - if it's an input then it's totally non-standard. If the supplied transformer/plus is rated to 230V then I'd just get a US>EU adaptor instead. The USB option would be a maximum of 500mA, so will probably be slower to charge than from the mains (you'll have to check the output current rating on the plug/transformer).
