Yes, that's the point of pelota, to notify you if there is a goal.

Thanks, I thought my N900 is going crazy. 
My N900 suddenly startet to vibrate 5 times in my pocket.
I had a look at it but there were no notifications, no missed calls, no SMS no e-mails and no alarms. The led (white) was blinking nervously about 30 seconds then it stopped.
What was that?
