So this is getting really annoying...

Every time I go to App. Manager to update I see I have:

Extra protocol plugins for conversations and contacts

Link-local xmpp protocol plugin for conversations and contacts

But when I try to update them I get, "Unable to update" - however when I look at the details it says, "Broken but able to update"

It keeps on asking me if I want to continue with the rest of the updates (I am able to update all the other applications), here is the log, can anyone tell me what the problem is?

Code:
hildon-application-manager 2.2.65

The problem is that the account-plugin-salut package seems to be missing a dependency on avahi-daemon (or has a badly-written post-install script, which fails to deal with cases where it's not installed). I'd suggest logging a bug with the package.

Oh, and as a workaround, you can run (as root) "apt-get install avahi-daemon".

EDIT: In fact, this apparently won't help - see http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=653761&postcount=4 for the fix

Yup - that link worked, but I am curious - what exactly did I do?

You just disabled part of the post-install script. I guess that the account-plugin-salut packag makes some changes which affect the avahi-daemon process (which deals with uPnP, inluding media sharing) so it tries to restart the process in order to pick up thed changes. Unfortunately either the restart doesn't work or you just don't have avahi installed, which causes the install to fail.

What errors do you get if you run "apt-get install canola2"?

I have a feeling what I did was a temporary fix before.

All I did was repeat the steps I did before, I had no clue that the file had reverted back. (bonehead) Thanks!

I've got the same issue with those 3 apps as xxxxts. I was trying even do this via xterm with apt-get in man different commands and variations. (hope I didn't screw up anything else And really looking for some simple solution to get this done. For now xterm mention something about unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/)

The thing is I re-flashed my device 3 times with PR 1.2 restoring my backup(always the same) And broken dependencies seems to be random. Each time I had different problems. This is annoying indeed but I guess its a matter to clear this mess up.

When I enter

sudo gainroot
/var

permission denied

Any help?
