Thanks for any help in advance.

So although there was a similar thread on this, there was a crucial piece of the puzzle missing. A user claimed to "go into the file manager to rename his video files" then went to see them in the media player, only to find the name hadn't changed.

Well how in the world did he rename in the file manager in the first place? I don't see any option to rename files for videos via the file manager. If you touch on the file itself it just opens it in the media player. If I bring up the list of options while in file manager and while in the folder which contains my video files, I certainly don't see any tab which allows me to alter the file names.

Can anyone tell me where and how this is accomplished within the phone?

Thanks.

Kurt

Yes, please. The porn movie titles are most embarrassing when I am trying to show granny the bar mitzvah video.
She'd never heard of Fisting Across America but she thought that Dame Judi Dench might have been in it.
I told her it was Brent Corrigan but she'd never heard of him. Obviously never seen Every Pool Boy's Dream!

Just tap and hold the file you want to chance in the file manager, a popup window will appear and just choose rename... I'm not sure why it wont change in the mediaplayer, maybe a reboot will do, but don't think so

e: just renamed two video files and looked in mediaplayer, still old names showed. Then did a reboot and after that they showed with with new names in mediaplayer

The indexer is on a schedule. You can force a rebuild by resetting the tracker.
