What kind of stream are you streaming?
2.5G cannot handle a 128k or 96k stream. It will drop every few minutes. EDGE at best on t-mobile is like 140k, more or less just under 100k.
3G will have issues also unless you are staying still and have a good signal. My 3G speeds are usually around 300k-350k. That should be able to handle a 128k stream, but when moving the speed degrades a lot.
My 3.5G speeds are around 1000k and can always handle a 128k stream just fine, even when moving.
I listen to internet radio a lot when driving, and when it drops out, Its because I am in a 3G area. If I see I am in an EDGE area I just turn it off for a bit.
There is nothing wrong with your phone, you are just trying to use more bandwidth than is available.

from what Im seeing is that internet only works fine on 3.5G when it goes to 3G its slow and 2.5gb even slower. Any ideas?
