Hi,
have you installed the package ruby1.8-dev? mkmf.rb is part of that package. It's just an idea.

I have installed the package build-essential, but when I download a RubyGem that needs to compile C extensions I receive the error:
"Error: Failed to build gem native extension ... no such file to load mkmf"
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can progress from here?
