trying to connect to the git repository via windows "git extensions"
it always rejects the key.
the instructions are pretty bad, it doesn't say exactly what type of key to generate.

I'm guessing that i am supposed to use the instructions for "Setting up SSH to upload to extras", so i generated the key in Ubuntu and imported it into PuTTY. After all that, it still doesn't work.

it does say "The keys are only relevant if you have maemo extras upload account" so i've requested that too... but does anyone know if that's even the problem? it makes about zero sense to request permission to upload to extras before i can even get the repository set up.

did you also put your private key in your garage account? https://garage.maemo.org/account/

plus, the key wouldn't be very private if i gave it away, lol

the connection test gets further now that i've accepted the extras upload invitation...
doesn't really look like it's working yet though:

i dunno, this is as far as i can get:
i set the 'url' to "creamyg@drop.maemo.org:git/monky"
test connection still fails, but if i try a push,

c:\Program Files (x86)\Git\cmd\git.cmd push "drop.maemo.org" master:master
fatal: 'git/monky': unable to chdir or not a git archive
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly

maybe i have to init the remote some other way first, then clone it. if anyone knows, let me know. this is such a waste of my time...

okay i got it
damn thing just needed another slash!
changed 'url' to "creamyg@drop.maemo.org:/git/monky"
hopefully i don't make a big mess now, i still don't know how to use this thing. i did a force push to the master branch.
