I want to turn off the alert sound when the battery level is critical. Any way to do this?

TIA.

Replacing /usr/share/sounds/ui-battery_low.wav with a split second recording of silence would be an inelegant, but effective, way to do it, I'd think.

Good Idea sjgadsby though I think improving the battery life is my preferred option. my n900 now gives me pathetic weeping noises near the end of every day, while i hate the sound its not the sound i have a problem with but the cause. ;-)

Thanks. Just another question: does that low battery sound come off when the phone is in silent mode? I mainly want to disable it for this purpose.

Yes, silent mode turns it off. The message still pops up, but you can listen to music without that anoying whine every 20 secs
