Hey I've recently been using a super-handy web service called Simplenote (ref: http://simplenoteapp.com/ ) to be able to write notes on my PC or phone collectively and add to / edit them from anywhere, and figured there should be an app or desktop widget that handles this, as opening up the web browser every time I want to write a five-second note seems rather clunky.

...and then I discovered the iPhones already have an app for it (vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOvGKqlUUIA ) and got really jealous. If someone could look into making a simple widget for this, or something similar, it'd be so handy for a lot of people

You're in luck, I'm in the final stages of finishing mine :-)

It's already functional, I'm just trying to perfect the error-handlling for the online sync, where a number of things can go wrong.

If you want to help me test I can include you in the private beta :-)

It's not packaged yet but as it's a PyQt app it's fairly easy to get going if you're not afraid of xterm and a couple of simple commands...

And yes, Evernote has its uses, especially for rich content, but for quick, plain-text note taking nothing beats Simplenote. I use it as a clipboard between my PCs and N900 all the time.

Hmm... seems the original poster was in such a hurry that he ran out to buy himself an iPhone ? :-)

There's one born every minute...

I'd be keen to beta test your app - I'm not afraid of xterm

Conboy is much, much lighter than Evernote, but still somewhat heavier than Simplenote (plain text vs. XML). And there seemed to be a lot of sync problems at first. Simplenote is easier to hack

Okay jedi, if you're still around here's something for you. I fixed a couple of bugs along the way :-)

I put the .tgz inside a .zip else I couldn't upload it here...

Just unpack it somewhere on your N900, look at the README and tell me how it goes...

May the force be with ya :-)
