My N900 decided it was one of those days to annoy me and eat into my weekend. For some really odd reason I could not connect it in mass storage mode to my vista machine. The drive would show but it was inaccessible. With an sd card in it I could browse the sd card but not the phone. Decided that connecting in PC suite mode was my best option and it work, or so I thought; in the middle of a transfer it disconnected without me doing anything. On the phone it still had the USB sign but the phone was again inaccessible. I kept trying again but the same thing always happened.

Why is USB connectivity so bad? should I just uninstall PC suite completely? I'm still on PR 1.2 btw, I still haven't received PR 1.3 OTA. Contemplating wiping my n900 clean and starting fresh with 1.3. if this is a known bug.

One word: Vista.
Upgrade to Linux, or even XP or 7, and your problems will probably be solved.
Also, running chkdsk couldn't hurt.

Ubuntu didn't detect it either. Turned the phone off and on and now ubuntu at least sees it. Going to try a test transfer I just hope it doesn't disconnect in the middle of a transfer like vista did otherwise I have a real problem with my phone.

Edit: Transferred fine. I guess Vista 64 isn't playing nice.

Sometimes it will "say" that it is using some of the disks and won't let it go. You may try to restart the n900 and then try to plug it on the pc.

Have you tried this? I have no other "good" way to do that. I never know which application is lying about using the disk...
