MeeGo 1.1 for N900 has come out , but it seems that it is useless.

We cannot take it as a normal phone.

No GFX driver, so very slow. No phone call through the headphone(now through speaker), no local language support.

I find a news today that CDMA is not supported until v1.3 ?!

We have wait for a long time for MeeGo v1.1 and hope it can be usable when v1.2 comes, but WCDMA be supported on v1.3 ?!

We had waited for months, now we have to wait again ?

I am not sure, in which way, MeeGo is better than Maemo 5 PR1.3 ?

Anyone can tell me ?

Thanks.

also, the dual-boot is not that good now, no multi-boot menu like GRUB for N900 till now.

Perhaps you missed the oft-repeated message that MeeGo 1.1 was not intended for general purpose use, and more as a development target?

Also, there are no phones out there that will both run MeeGo and are on CDMA, except perhaps the DROID. I don't expect support for CDMA will go in because the only targeted phones at this point are all GSM, so it's best to focus on what's available.

Also, I'm confused as to why you always post with a defeated, "why even bother" sort of tone, it's quite confusing. Perhaps you aren't familiar with the concept of an open development process?

HSDPA = 3.5G
W-CDMA = 3G
now, what are they saying?

I mean WCDMA support.

Because from the hardware aspect, N900 support WCDMA.

So will MeeGo v1.2 for N900 fully support WCDMA ?

Besides, I know that v1.1 is for developer.
But as we all know about the naming rule, I think this MeeGo v1.1 should be called v0.9 because it is not usable for normal users.

Yes. When they said CDMA they were referring to the type of networks used in the US, Korea and Japan that do not support SIM cards.

I was prepared to create a dual boot of Maemo 5 PR1.3 & MeeGo v1.1 dual boot.

But because MeeGo v1.1 is not usable at all, so I gave up this idea.

I am OK with Maemo 5 now.

So I am wondering, what is the 'killer function' of MeeGo ?

I think Maemo 5 is OK. And MeeGo has no special advantages.

Anyone has the same idea ?

I am with you. I think we should forget about MeeGo, and support the Developers here. The only advantage seems to be portrait mode or the home screen itself. This will be solved in Maemo in the future i think. Most (all?) Apps will run in Maemo to.
