How can I increase the memory to install applications?

I just try enter: apt-get clean in X terminal and i get:

E: Could not open lock file /var/cache/apt/arhives/lock - open (13 Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the download directory

Do you have a GUI application manager running in the background? The factory shipped one or FastApplicationManager?

No! I don`t have nothing open...

apt-get requires root user privileges.

apt-get autoclean
apt-get autoremove

Thnx this work but look .... I need to increase the "Memory for installable aplications"

And just what does this do? Can it hurt existing installed apps?
