What I am trying to achieve:

HTPC/fileserver/UPNP-SERVER/SSH-SERVER all in one box.

Problems with linux:

Linux can do all of this easily. However, I am dependent on latest version of silverlight(curse the proprietary...) and there is also ******ed problem with HDMI tv-out overscaning that I can't fix because there is no option on TV (both normal menu and service menu) to manually fit the picture and I didn't find a way to fix it in xorg.conf.

Problems with Windows:

I even tried windows server 2008 R2 enterprise (legal, from MSDN) and hated every moment of it. Yes, its fast, but I am sick and tired of restrictions that M$ put on it. And it can be very glitchy sometimes. For example, samba shares could stop working any time they like, so I had to restart the service. Lack of normal console and SSH-Server is probably the main reason why I hate windows. Sure, RDP is nice, but console access is more efficient, faster and doesn't require fast internet connection.

Mac os X:

So, now I am looking at the Mac os X. At first glance, it seems to have everything I need. And the it looks like the luck is on my side this time, my motherboard is 99.99% compatible to it, so I can easily install hackintosh.(don't worry I am going to buy the DVD from store if it works properly)

My question is: Did anyone have the experience with mac os x on HTPC?

It's a hidden feature buried in the manuals of almost all recent Samsung TVs. This drove me crazy for a long time.
