Hello.
Im syncronizing my hotmail with the built-in emailclient (modest).
Sometimes modest seems to crash. For example no new emails arrive, email-widget does not work, and the hotmailfolders does not appear in in modest.

If i reboot my phone evertings works again.

Now, is there a way to restart modest?

I have installed a modified modest by MAG. But I would like to reinstall te default modest. Could someone help me with doing this please. I tried:

sudo gainroot
apt-get update
apt-get install reinstall modest

I get an error that the package could not be found.

Thank you for your anwser.
I got this message when I tried it:

/home/user # apt-get --reinstall install modest
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package modest is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package modest has no installation candidate

Correct is
Code:
kill `pidof modest`
in a commad line. Requires no root shell. modest respawns itself immediately.

I do have same problems with modest like the OP has, but with mail.o2online.de instead of hotmail. Their imap service times out quite often and this seems to bring down modest.

Now I don't have to restart for this anymore, thank you hawaii!
