Hi, my n900 recently got charging issue, after charging for a while, it shows "not charging" and the yellow led is no longer blinking.. i've never had this problem before... here's what lshal -m gives me :

Code:
BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 3:1.10.2.legal-1osso30+0m5) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

~ $ lshal -m

Start monitoring devicelist:
-------------------------------------------------
07:38:19.998: usb_device_1d6b_2_musb_hdrc property usb_device.vbus = 1 (0x1)
07:38:20.193: bme property maemo.charger.connection_status = 'connected'
07:38:20.221: bme property maemo.charger.type = 'unknown'
07:38:20.229: bme property maemo.rechargeable.positive_rate = true
07:38:20.860: bme property battery.rechargeable.is_discharging = false
07:38:20.967: bme property battery.rechargeable.is_charging = true
07:38:21.060: bme property battery.remaining_time = 7200 (0x1c20)
07:38:21.080: bme property maemo.rechargeable.charging_status = 'on'
07:38:21.143: bme property maemo.charger.type = 'wall charger'
07:38:21.152: platform_slide property button.state.value = true
07:38:21.221: platform_slide condition ButtonPressed = cover
07:38:41.813: platform_slide property button.state.value = false
07:38:41.824: platform_slide condition ButtonPressed = cover
07:38:46.673: bme property battery.rechargeable.is_discharging = true
07:38:46.701: bme property battery.rechargeable.is_charging = false
07:38:46.775: bme property battery.remaining_time = 0 (0x0)
07:38:47.150: bme property maemo.rechargeable.charging_status = 'error'
07:38:47.186: bme property maemo.rechargeable.positive_rate = false
07:38:47.206: bme property maemo.rechargeable.charging_status = 'error'
07:38:47.213: bme property battery.charge_level.capacity_state = 'low'
07:38:47.260: bme property battery.charge_level.capacity_state = 'low'
07:38:49.579: bme property battery.voltage.current = 3440 (0xd70)
This is pretty annoying because if i left it overnight for charging, i woke up and find out that it's dead..

If i tilt the charger a bit, it works, but after a while it refuses to charge again
any idea to fix this?
btw i'm using the official charger for above result, but i tried a chinese chargers for my car before (It worked though)

I think this is a sign of your USB is going to be soon come out when you plug in the next charges.

Mine did that and what do you know, it fall out like a 3years old kid baby tooth. Get it in the repair center and fix it asap otherwise you'll end up with no USB

Good luck.

The thing is, when i turn the phone off, the charger works just fine.. (Tried that twice already)
Could this be BME related issue?
I'm gonna try to reflash it and see if it still has that problem i'll take it to care center..

Or anyone know another solution?
I think it's different with other usb problem (i hope so)
because i googled and i can't find this line on the usb prob threads

Code:
"bme property maemo.rechargeable.charging_status = 'error'"
I just had corrupted disk before (fixed it with scandisk), could it be related to that?

There is your answer it is 100% the usb port, incidently if you cannot get it repaired replaced by Nokia then solder up the port BEFORE it breaks off the board and it will work again but do try the Nokia route first.

Yes that's what plan to do if EMMC flash doesn't solve it...
But if it's usb port issue why does USB charging still work fine?

Btw off topic but, how do i apply backup file made by backup app after EMMC flash?
Do i have to save the backup file somewhere else first?
Because emmc flash cleans the phone completely right?

Backups are either on your sd card or stored on your pc and no the flash will not cure your charge problem.

Done enough repairs now to know the usb problem and as you stated if you tilt the usb it starts to charge again.

There is a massive thread about the usb port fault, the only remedy is to either get a replacement or better still open up your N900 and solder the port properly making sure you work on the 4 corners to hold down the usb port so it never detaches again, a replacement can go the same way by the way.

Forgot to tell you, if you use Pc suite for the backup then it goes to your pc not to your 900 ok.
