Hi,

I want to buy a new phone, i didn't choose between Samsung galaxy S2 and N9..

I own a N900, i am find its a very good phone thanks to maemo community work.

I think N9 is a good phone, but i am little bit afraid by the application missing.

I didn't achieve to know how many apps are existing for N9 ?

Is a list of available exists ?

On N900, i mainly use next apps or features :

- gpodder
- MMS
- RSS Feed
- multimedia player (video & audio, is equalizer exits on N9 version)
- faircrack / cleven
- skype call (audio & video call)
- mail (i found the N900 very bad)
- web browsing with flash player
- kmplayer (mms stream)

Please, can N9 owners tell me if equivalent apps are existing on N9 device ?

Well, if you didn't notice/care about lack of apps on N900, you won't notice it on N9 too. In fact, it's -imho- in a much better state than N900 once was. See my-meego.com, it's a pretty good source to check new apps.

- Gpodder: already ported and pretty good, looks much better than N900 one.
- MMS: built-in
- RSS Feed: Built-in. Also you can get a Google Reader client from Store.
- Multimedia player: Huh? Do you ask for an alternative? (obviously it has a built-in player) Anyway, yes there are some alternatives, but no, none of them support equalizer yet.
- Faircrack & Cleven: afaik not yet, but I guess they'll come soon
- Skype call: Audio possible. Video not yet (maybe never)
- Mail: Works pretty good, but lacks some features such as flagging
- Web browser works pretty good, it's very fast, but lacks flash player.
- kmplayer: dunno.

the ones i will miss is the faircrack, i am willing to donate if someone put in some effort porting faircrack to n9.

you need to think in other way, N9 is the most sexist design phone and has the very unique swipe ui, n9 has much better map and navigation support than n900, has love from ebuddyxms and some love from nokia beta labs(nokia internent radio, nokia city scene, etc)

I guess It may not be possible to get Faircrack/Cleven work on N9 without open-mode kernel, since -again, I "guess"- Aegis wouldn't allow that kind of changes on kernel modules.

Have using galaxy note and n9 as my main phones atm. But I want a keyboard.

N9 lack of flash player, if you want more app go for sgs2, if you wanna be different take ur N9, remember when first time N900 come, its not thats good till this community do excelent job, at least its ur choice. long live maemo, we are abandoned, but we have our own world, its freedom!! cheers

lack of flash player on n9 wont be a big problem since n9 support html5, i use flash mainly for video streaming, to me cutetube can be a replacement of flash.

html5 needs atleast 3 years to be able show tv around the world, plus n9 can't play HD but its a great phone.

actually i still confuse too, which should i buy, LOL

It does have Kmplayer ported to it (check FMC.) I guess it works too as I installed mplayer and that and now my Orb feeds work so I can still watch live TV on the go.
Like said, pretty much everything else on your list is there (and I think the mail client is worlds better than the N900s Modest) and the only thing that isn't is faircrack/cleven but that's being held up by needing to get around Aegis for it to work. AFAIK, devs are getting around Aegis with open mode but I'm not sure a new kernel has been developed yet for cleven, etc.
