I think this could be our new maemo device. If installing ubuntu can be done with a one-click installer, we could also boot some flavor of maemo on it, be it nemo, cordia, or ubuntu with hildon and call it our own.

It's a decent piece of hardware, the kernel is open https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/tegra and it can be easily bought.

Not neccesarily maemo, but this might be a chance to get full linux on a good portable device. With full linux I don't mean ubuntu, which gone mad since 10.10 imo, but I am looking at openSuse and Arch

Hopefully next week, I'll have one in my hands, first thing is to try and get nemo on it.

Mmm, Lots of questions...
One of the draws to Ubuntu, is the ease of use. However, Hildon is possibly an even easier UI to use, especially with fingers.
If it can run Ubuntu 12.xx, why not Debian 7-arm? From there, I wonder - how portable are the Hildon packages? And, can the devices's native software, like phone, sms, etc. be meshed along side Debian/Hildon/Maemo/whatever, so both can run simultaneously and neither conflicts with the other?
... Is this the naissance of Maemo 7(?) - one that runs on non-nokia devices? If so, might all be quite "disruptive"?

As the link reads, this does have some performance issues so maybe ditch the unity desktop in favor of LXDE, that could be a start?

On the whole, this is a great move forward for mobile linux users

How is Ubuntu not "full" linux? It's basically 100% Debian with some additional bits and a sucky window manager.

Putting a proper linux distro on a fondleslab is like putting a Ferrari engine in a Sinclair C5.
