I have started compiling nessus (2.3.1) vulnerability scannner for N900.
Since the latest tarballs available, that I could find, the version is (a bit) outdated (version 2.3.1)
There are a few manual steps post-installation, which I have to sort out to automate within debian packages.
To overcome some issues with certain files included in multiple debs, install using dpkg -i --force-all <package>
Secondly, because nessus is unable to locate shared libraries, you also need to add to /etc/ld.so.conf

/usr/local/lib

at the end of the file

Then issue command:

Code:
ldconfig

Third, ownership of files are 1000:1000 (not root:root) this shouldnt cause issues, but, now you know

Files are uploaded to dropbox as gzipped tar, untar those and install with

Code:
dpkg -i libnasl-2.3.1.deb
dpkg -i nessus-libraries-2.3.1.deb
dpkg -i --force-all nessus-core-2.3.1.deb
dpkg -i nessus-plugins-2.3.1.deb
Use nessus-mkcert to generate initial certificates
Use nesses-adduser to add a first user

Enjoy!

Nice. Seems like 2 opensource forks were created when Nessus went commercial, porz-wahn is still in roadmap stage since 2005, OpenVAS seems very much alive, should be a lot more up to date than 2.3.1, hopefully not too up to date. Thanks!

True, OpenVAS is opensource, and more up-to-date.
Still, this is a good tool for a basic scan of your network (even if only 2k plugins).
(Shhhh! working on OpenVAS)
