I've learned Jolla uses telepathy as backend for messaging, and all protocols should be implemented as telepathy plugin.

I also came across Whosthere, a telepathy implementation of the Whatsapp protocol.

As anyone tried (or is it possible at all) to crosscompile Whosthere for SailfishOS and thus enable Whatsapp on the Jolla phone?

great find! i hate the Android-client after using it 1 day...
this should be possible, i'll take a look over the holidays, but don't expect too much

Sadly project is discontinued. Need a new mantainer and a up-to-date protocol implementation

Wow, thanks, didn't realize it was discontinued.
Hopefully someone picks it up, finally...
