GNUMP3D -- streaming

Gnump3d lets you stream miltimedia content -- including movies, the developer says -- from a Linux server. I found it spectacularly easy to set up on my Linux Mint Ubuntu computer, and before I reaalized I had set it up correctly I found myself listening to streaming Russian lessons on my N800 -- and the quality was better than the same lessons played directly from my Dell Latitude running Linux Puppy.

Ok, now I'm interested in something more complicated -- I used the internal url for the network. How exactly can I use an external url for the same thing?
