http://www.operamini.com/

Version 4.0 now available. Can't say what it means for Maemo as we can't d/l a compatible version from that site, but it is nice to see progress and improvements. Maybe this is a good sign of things to come. It does rotation (to landscape) so perhaps our next version will have the portrait mode which some have requested (not sure why). I'll be testing it on my BB for sure though.

I think Meamo uses a version of Opera Mobile (http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/) for the browser, instead of Opera Mini.

I use Opera a lot as my desktop browser, but the OperaMini version has yet to statisfy me. I used the beta4 on my Palm TX (installation alone was a hell, as the palm didn't have a java enviroment) in the hope it would be better than the standard palm-browser, however it constantly crashed and formatted the pages in a really weird way. A not usable kind of weird. :(

I can see why some people want portrait mode--it's much easier to hold the NIT in one hand that way. As to what they do with it, I don't know.

Hmmm... personally, I want portrait mode so I can read stories that way direct from the browser.

FBreader is very nice, but it's slow to save from the browser, then open in FBreader, particularly when the story is divided into multiple pages on the server's end.
