Last week I posted some benchmarks at the end of a long thread (probably the wrong place) and got no replies so I thought it might be better to have its own thread. I ran the palm benchmark app Speedy v6.4 from aldweb.com on both my Treo650 and my N800 (OS2007 Bora) and got the following results:

Treo: Calc Test=0.53, Mem Test=0.24, Graph Test=0.33 Total 1.10sec (~273MHz)
N800: Calc Test=0.73, Mem Test=0.09, Graph Test=0.82 Total 1.64sec (~183MHz)

It would be great for someone who is running OS2008 or a 770 would post their results. I don't know if these numbers are reflective of actual performance but it makes for interesting comparison between Nokia devices.

770 with new 2007 HE

result

Calc: 1.0 sec
Mem: 0.13 sec
Graph: 1.03 sec
Total: 2.16 sec ( ~139 MHz)

I know how speedy works.

Speedy has been specially created to benchmark palm 68k against palm ARM. In fact most of the palm program (except a few, like tomtom or warfare inc) are compiled for 68k cpu, and are used in the last palm with an emulator transparently.

As maybe 2000 programs on the 32000 available program are arm targeted, speedy is really a good program to compare the vm performance to a Palm.

In what VM? Garnet? I'd be curious to see how it compares to POSE

800 OS2008Beta: Calc Test=0.63, Mem Test=0.14, Graph Test=0.62 Total 1.39sec (~216MHz)

That makes sense -- the clock speed limit has been raised from 330 to 400 (about 20%).
